The handwritten note on the back side read: Mitsuko-san, This photo was taken when I was leaving the Jerome camp in the morning. In the photo, I am smiling, wearing a lei. It looks like I was leaving for Hawai'i or Japan. However, the truth is that I was happy because I thought you were also moving to Tule Lake and would be able to meet you there... Nobuo.
