Caption on reverse [translation]: "Sogo Photo, News No. 1. After today, 'one scholar.' Dr. Minobe's longing feelings. (Tokyo) September 18, 1935. Dr. Minobe, who faced the big contradiction that he was appointed to the honorable position of Diet member for his achievements in the academic world and must now give up the post because of that doctrine, appeared on the 18th at 10:30 a.m. before a press corps waiting for him in his study, his face a bit flushed with excitement, wearing a casual Oshima kimono and a short coat of the same brand. 'Thank you for waiting...' the doctor greeted quietly, and read a speech from a strict manuscript written on letter paper. 'I would consider it abandoning my academic life and ruining my reputation for a thousand years if I were to give up my official position in order to avoid prosecution.' The doctor's hand was shaking a little as he held the manuscript. The picture is 1, Dr. Minobe on that day."
