Caption on front [translation]: "Kendo Hanshi. There are two people in their fifties among Kendo Hanshi. One is Moriji Mochida, of Hokushin Itto-Ryu, and the other is Sosuke Nakano, of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai. Mochida was born in Gunma prefecture in 1885 and started to practice kendo when he was 18 years old at the Gunma branch of the Butoku Kai, continuing there for five years. When he was 23 years old, he was recommended by the branch and entered the martial arts instructors' school in March of that year. He completed the refinement certificate at the age of 27 and became an instructor at 35. In May of 1930 he was given the title of Hanshi. His skill is known to be fast and smart. His kote and katate-zuki are especially invincible."
