Caption on reverse [translation]: "Domei photo, International News. February 4, 1937. Naval funeral for former president of Japan-Germany Association. (Berlin) Domei. The president of the Japan-Germany Associate, Governor of Japan Educational Association and General of Naval Service Veterans, General [?] passed away on January 4th. On the 8th in his hometown a big naval funeral was held in honor of his achievements as a Naval Commander for 4 years after the war. Ambassador Mushakoji, as a representative of the Empire, expressed his condolences by extolling the General's achievements in promoting friendship between Japan and Germany during his lifetime. Our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of the Navy, and other Japanese officials and people living in Germany also expressed their condolences by presenting plenty of wreaths at his tomb to mark the General's efforts toward Japan-Germany relations just before his death. The picture is Ambassador Mushakoji reading his eulogy."
