Caption by Homer Yasui: "Me, at around age 10-11, standing on the east side of our old garage In the background is a huge pule of cut up apple wood, which we three young boys--Roku, Shu & me--had to load onto wheelbarrows, and trundle down a steep concrete steps to the basement, to be later burned in an antiquated wood and coal burning furnace...I can clearly remember Shu taking this picture. I didn't want him to do it because I was wearing those gawd awful ugly Japanese canvas shoes, of which I was so ashamed. So, I thought, I would place that nailed block of wood in front of my feet because it would hide those ugly shoes. Little did I know that it would draw attention to not only those shoes, but also to my bowed legs, as shown."
