Eastern California Museum Harry Bentley Wells and Shirley Elizabeth Wells Collection

Assignment by Nancy Yamauchi for World History and Geography class taught by Mr. Harry Bentley Wells, a teacher at Manzanar High School. Nancy describes her arrival at Manzanar on May 29, 1942 and her transition into camp life. She notes that she has made many friends, but that people are becoming lazier as they cannot do the same work as they did prior to camp. She notes there is nothing to do but eat, play and sleep.
