Nisei male. Grew up the Pasadena, California, area, where parents worked in a family-owned nursery. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, family moved to Reedley, California, for a short time before being removed to the Manzanar concentration camp, California. At Manzanar, father worked for the government's guayule project. After leaving camp, returned to California and became an engineer.
