White male. Born August 28, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. Lost father at an early age and moved to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, began to study judo. Was part of a group in 1943 that visited Manzanar and competed in a judo tournament. Served in the navy during World War II and eventually returned to Los Angeles, continued to practice judo.
