The Japanese American Citizens League is a national organization whose mission is to secure and safeguard the civil and human rights of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans and all communities who are affected by injustice and bigotry. The leaders and members of the JACL also work to promote and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American Community. The Seattle Chapter of the JACL formed around 1930 and has been a fixture of the Japanese American community ever since.

In 2021, Densho partnered with the Seattle Chapter to host their oral histories and digitize and make available their historical chapter records. This work was made possible through generous support from the JACL Legacy Fund and 4Culture.
