Caption on reverse [translation]: "(Tokyo) May 23, 1936. National track meet held 11th all-Japan league. The third day of selections for the Berlin Olympics were held from 11 a.m. on the 23rd. The heavy rain from last night was letting up and soft beams of sunlight were coming through, but the track still had many puddles. The workmen tried to drain the water, but the conditions of both track and field is still not very good. The wind is blowing from the northeast and the temperature is low like in early summer, but the athletes aiming to go to Berlin from sixteen districts played a close game from the first match. The photo shows 1, Japan's new record, set by Mr. Murakoso."
