Text on reverse: "2/2/43. C. R. HEMENWAY SPEAKS TO VVV MEMBERS. Your offer to serve in February, last year, was a remarkable demonstration of your deep loyalty to America," Mr. C. R. Hemenway, president of the Hawaiian Trust Co. and longtime chairman of the University of Hawaii's board of regents, told inactivated VVV members at the banquet and dance given in their honor Monday night by community members of Japanese descent. The large majority of the former VVV members are volunteers for the combat regiment now being organized for Americans of Japanese ancestry. Standing behind Mr. Hemenway, at left, are Mr. Walter Dillingham, shaking hands with Mr. Hung Wai Ching, of the Emergency Service Committee, and Lt. T Kaulukukui, executive officer of the VVV."
