Caption on reverse [translation]: "Statue of Kusunoki Masashige Gifted to General Franco. (Tokyo) January 28, 1939. A statue of Kusunoki Masashige was given at the Japanese-German-Italian Friendship Society to commemorate the occupation of Barcelona by the Spanish Franco government's forces. Society Director Ito visited Ambassador Vigo at the Spanish legation in Azabu-Hyoe at 10 a.m. on the 28th and handed him a one foot, five inch tall bronze statue of Kusunoki Masashige and requested that he send it to General Franco. Photograph: the statue of Kusunoki."
