Caption on reverse [translation]: "Franco-Japanese Author Exchange. De Croisset Invited to the Koyokan. (Tokyo) August 3, 1934. A round-table discussion was held at the Koyokan on the night of the 2nd between a French author who came to Japan because he intends to make it the subject of a play and Japanese dramatists and kabuki actors. The guest of honor was Francis de Croisset, who is head of the Paris Literary Association but is better known from his works such as ""Cherubin"" and ""The Heart Cries Out"" [?]. In attendance on the Japanese side were Ennosuke [Ichikawa], Sumizo [Ichikawa], Shocho [Ichikawa], Kunio Kishida, Yutaka Tatsuno, and Fujita Tsuguharu and his wife. A thoroughly moved de Croisset praised kabuki after watching some of the Japanese drama. Photograph: 1. At the Koyokan."
