Caption on reverse: "Son accepts posthumous honor for hero admiral. President Franklin D. Roosevelt presents the Congressional Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to Rear Admiral Norman Scott to the latter's son, Norman Scott, Jr., a Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy. The presentation took place at the White House in Washington. Admiral Scott was cited for heroic action during the U.S. victories over Japanese naval forces in the battle of Cape Esperance in October and in the battle off the Solomons in November. It was during the latter fighting that Admiral Scott was killed."
