Caption on reverse [translation]: "(Tokyo) February 23, 1939. In response to a prior gift from His Majesty the Emperor, Fuhrer Hitler (via Ambassador Ott) gifted a vase from the National Porcelain Factory in Berlin on the 23rd. The ambassador visited the palace at 10:20 a.m. on that day and had an audience with the Emperor in the Phoenix Hall and presented the Emperor with the splendid vase.
