DESCRIPTION
1 letter written to Nobuko Nakamura from her brother George Nakamura. Letter dated October 23, 1943. George writes about Italy, war, how he pities the Italians and their experiences, and hopes to come home soon with love and laughter. \n\nWritten on verso of copy of letter, "100Bn? Co. F / Serial No. 30, 100, 526?? Wrote this Aug 19, 2008 So kinda blurred. / Read this ltr Dec, 1943 According to Dad's Japanese word on Envelope / This Ltr Dtd Oct. 23, 1943"\n\nOn envelope, Japanese notes written in pencil.\n\nTranscription:\nOctober 23, 1943\n\nDear Sis,\n\nYour brother is reporting from Italy saying [okay and never felt finner ?]. The air is cool and refreshing that ought to do lot a good for me. This is a beautiful country with lot a hill and valleys and pretty Italian [Signorinas?] too. The only thing spoils it is like any war torn country - war.\n\nTo see the Italians on carts, biycles and foot going to and fro reminds me of the pictures I've seen of war torn countries. Of course they were our enemies but [humanely speaking?] its a pitiful sight to see their home bombed and shelled with no food and clothes. It just doesn't make sense to have this war carrying on to make more people suffer.\n\nBut it won't be long when [lights?] be going on I'll be coming home and there'll be cheers, love and laughter. Sit tight and it won't be long, it can't.\n\nBrotherly,\nGeorge
