Check-in letter from Fort Meade, Maryland, written 14 days after the last letter from Camp Blanding. Tad is bunking with Shiro; the barracks are "swell, and nice." The fort is 45 minutes from D.C. and Baltimore, and the men can leave whenever they'd like if they're not on duty; Tad and Shiro plan to go to New York the coming weekend if they can get passes. The company stopped in Chicago on their way up from Florida. Tad says "it's a pretty big town but it's kind of dirty." Letter ends with Tad's new address.
