Caption below photo: Mas Takano sprays the temple's plum tree with Neem oil. Alameda Buddhist Temple, Alameda, CA. Takano takes care of the some of the grounds but says he is getting too old to continue much longer. At the right time, the plums will be come umeboshi ("ew-may-boh-she") - a pickled, sour plum sometimes stuffed into rice balls.
