Materials of the Nimura Family spanning from the arrival of Shizuko Nimura to the United States as the picture bride of Junichi Nimura through their life building a family in California. The collection centers on the life of their eldest child, Hisa, born in 1925 and her experience during the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII and her life after the war.

Poems from Hisa's friends. Ms. Whilhite writes that the Nimura family and their neighbors were sent to Arboga, California, most likely they were sent to the Marysville Temporary Assembly Center which was located near Arboga. After spending just over a month in the assembly center Hisa and her family were sent to Tule Lake Concentration Camp.
