The letter describes Camp Robinson, where his son, Mitsuo (Mike), had been sent for military training. On January 23, 1942, the government decided to send Japanese American soldiers who were still in service to special camps in Arkansas and Alabama. The majority of these Nisei went to Camp Robinson in Arkansas, where they performed noncombat duties for the duties for the next two years. By 1944, they were allowed to join the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an all-Nisei unit.
