Original caption: Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Japanese-American Combat Team. At Camp Shelby, Miss., Americans of Japanese ancestry from California, Hawaii and other areas are undergoing intensive training as a Army Combat team. One group of Japanese-Americans has already gone and seen action in the Mediterranean Theatre. These pictures show some of the phases of the training of the 442nd Combat Team at Camp Shelby: With rifles ready, these five men from Hawaii are prepared to cross the stream on a raft swung on cables and pulled by men in the water. On raft, left to right are Pvt. Charles Ouija, Pvt. Francis Hirota, Sgt. Henry Yamane, Pvt. Fusso Hamada and Pvt. George Sunakoda. 1943.
