DESCRIPTION

Two Nisei soldiers join the 442 and are assigned to the same squad in I Company, 3rd Battalion at Camp Shelby. They fight through Italy and France. Two weeks before the end of the war with Germany, one is killed by a sniper. Sixty years later, the survivor returns to Italy to pay his respects to his friend. He says that since his friend's death, he has lived two lives--one for himself and one for his friend, whom he believes gave his life that he could live.
