CSU Japanese American History Digitization Project

The CSU Japanese American Digitization Project (CSUJAD) began in 2013 with the goal of providing scholars, librarians, archivists, educators and the interested public with far easier access to a wide variety of archival material about Japanese Americans. The project partners include: the 23-campus California State University system archives, and other, similar collections across the state.

With the help of grant funding from NEH and the National Park Service Japanese American Confinement Sites program, the CSUJAD project digitizes and describes these archival collections in order to bring these significant stories together for worldwide access and contribute to the deepening understanding of Japanese American history.

Collection Historical Society of Long Beach Oral History Collection (ddr-csujad-53)

The Oral History Collection at the Historical Society of Long Beach is a living collection, growing with each new recording the HSLB produces. The collection includes recordings with members of local politics, the LGBTQ community, and various community members.

Collection Sonoma State University North Bay Ethnic Archive (ddr-csujad-56)

Collection Whittier Public Library First Friends Church Photographs and Records (ddr-csujad-57)

The collection consists of images and documents from its establishment in 1887 to the mid-20th century. Also included are images and documents of two missions of Whittier's First Friends Church: the Kotzebue Friends Church, in Kotzebue, Alaska; and the Friends Japanese Church in Norwalk, formerly located near the intersection of Orange Street and Rosecrans Avenue.
