The photograph was taken outside the gates at Manzanar on November 18, 1943. A War Relocaiton Authority station wagon is leaving Manzanar incarceration camp en route to Reno, Nevada, the car is driving between the military police stationed at the gate. A sign can be seen with a 20 mph speed limit, and "Stop Military Police." Incarcerees can be seen waving farewell on the left side, with a line of administrative buildings behind them.
