Alameda Japanese American History Project: Family and Community Collection

Caption below photo: Sojourners in a Strange Land / Passenger lists show that Karoju (b. 1881) and Shime (b. 1884) Kawamura arrived in Honolulu in 1902, and later boarded the ship Mongolia to arrive in San Francisco in 1910. They became life-long members of the church, bringing up their son Shizuto and daughter, Katsumi, in the growing Japanese congregation.
