Alameda Japanese American History Project: Buddhist Temple of Alameda Collection

Caption below photo: Kitchen Music We think the Issei women in this photo were having some fun, beating on kitchen pots and pan to 'make music'. Perhaps it was a rehearsal for a performance at the Buddhist Temple of Alameda, CA., where this photo was shot, 1915-1933, when the photographer, Takuritsu Morita, lived in Oakland and then Alameda. He can be seen at right, placing himself into his photo, as he often liked to do.
