H.R. 4110

House bill introduced in Congress on October 6, 1983, as the Civil Liberties Act of 1983. The bill was sponsored by House Majority Leader Jim Wright (D-Texas), and asked for implementation of the recommendations of the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians. These recommendations included disbursement of monetary restitutions to eligible Japanese Americans and Aleuts, as well as a congressional apology. Hearings were held, but the bill was not passed.
