    "title": "Morooka Family Collection",
    "description": "The Morooka Family Collection consists primarily of letters from three siblings, Amy, John, and Martha, to close family friend Violet Sell. The Morooka siblings write to Violet regularly with updates on their experiences at Tulare Assembly Center, Gila River, and after leaving camp. They keep Violet posted on their efforts to participate in the small church community in the camps, health issues, request supplies, and to stay in touch with their hometown friends from Long Beach, California. Also included in the collection are two documents, a nursing application and a eulogy for Violet Sell.",

    "bioghist": "Violet Sell was a close friend the Morooka siblings (Amy, John, and Martha) knew through their church community in Long Beach, California. They wrote to her regularly about their experiences at Tulare Assembly Center, Gila River, and after leaving incarceration. Violet was referred to often as \"Big Sis\" and frequently worked to provide the Morookas with supplies during their incarceration. Martha worked in a medical setting throughout her stay at Gila River and eventually leaves the camp to pursue a nursing degree. Amy meets her husband, Tomio Sugano, in camp and they eventually resettle in several locations as he pursues different teaching positions. Amy and Tomio also work briefly at a chick sexing facility, but Amy returns to her parents in Gila River to give birth to her child, Larry. John and his wife Midori experience hardships in their marriage while in camp, with Amy and Martha alluding to unhappiness between the two families.",
