    "bioghist": "In 1978, in Regents of University of California v. Bakke, the Supreme Court ruled that a university's use of racial \"quotas\" in its admissions process was unconstitutional. The Anti-Bakke Coalition was formed by students in the California University system to fight the ruling and to address other anti-affirmative action legislation such as the Sears & Roebuck lawsuit in 1979 that argued to discontinue all government affirmative action programs related to employment.   The rise of Asian student Unions on California campuses led to the growth of multiple newspapers and publications focused on issues facing the Asian-American community and other progressive goals, including nuclear disarmament, protection of Nihonmachi and Chinatown from development, support for the Chicano movement.",
