    "bioghist": "George Townsend served as the assistant project director for community activities at Minidoka Relocation Camp.  During the depression, Townsend had worked with homeless and transient men, as well as the peace movement. He was recruited to the WRA as the camps were being built and worked to establish the education system, self-governing structures, medical services, religious services and other programs in the first months at MInidoka.  He left to work with relocation groups in the mid-west in 1943  then returned to Minidoka to assist with the closing of the camp and return of internees to the Seattle area.  Apparently well respected at the camp, he remained friends with a number of the former camp residents throughout his life.",
