Caption on reverse [translation]: "(Tokyo) 1936 August 17. Tamekichi Ota, Japanese Ambassador to Russia, returned home on the 13th. He visited Prime Minister Hirota at the official residence at noon on the 17th. While they ate lunch Ota reported on the latest trend of the relations between England and Russia, and between France and Russia. Ota talked about the relations of the Great Powers of America and Europe toward Russian, and the industry and [?] in Russia. Especially, the sentiments of the Russian government toward Japan, the armaments in the Far East, problems of the western boarder of [?] and [?], and Russian [?] were reported by Ota. In addition, he had opinions regarding the policy of Japan toward Russia. Ota visited Foreign Affairs Minister Arita at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the afternoon. He reported on the problems of [?]. (Ambassador Ota is leaving [?] in the photograph.)"
