Caption on reverse [translation]: "This year's Sakurai winner is Dr. Nita. (Osaka) March 4, 1939. Our country's highest science award, "Sakurai Award," was established in honor of Dr. Joji Sakura's 25 years of work at Tokyo University. He passed away suddenly on January 28th, and was [?] counsel and the president of an Imperial school. This year's tentative winner is Dr. Isamu Nita of [?]. Dr. Nita will receive his award at a Japanese scientific meeting, to be held in Tokyo this coming April. Dr. Nita is one of the descendants of the famous Shiro Nita, who have lived at Makiagiri in Susono Fuji for forty decades. His award recognizes his "Research of molecular structure and crystals by x-ray," which will be used for [?]. The photo is Dr. Nita."
