Note regarding Japanese paintings (ddr-densho-299-227)
Note regarding paintings Japanese Army artists made which were displayed in conquered areas. After the war these paintings were moved to a museum where the author took pictures of many of them. The author cannot recall doing this though and jokes about his senility.

Original WRA caption: Manzanar Relocation Center, Manzanar, California. An evacuee resting on his cot after moving his belongins into this bare barracks room. An army cot and mattress are the only things furnished by the government. All personal belongings were brought by the evacuees.

Information concerning Hawaiian internees (ddr-densho-314-12)
This document lists the family members of Kazuichi Takanishi. It shows that two of his sons were serving in the US Army. Partly due to his sons' service, Takanishi was paroled first to Chicago, Illinois on the mainland and then later back to Hawaii.
