Drafted into the army and transferred to the Military intelligence Service. Served with ATIS (Allied Translator Interpreter Section) during the occupation of Japan after the war, before teturning to Alameda.

During World War II, they were removed to the Gila concentration camp, Arizona. After the war, they resettled in Madison, Wisconsin and eventually returned to Alameda.
