Original caption: Oahu, T. H. The first 48 veterans to be discharged from the Army under the point system, seated here, are waiting for their certification at the Separation Center. All but two are members of the famous 100th Battalion, 34th Division, which saw plenty of action in Italy and France. 23 May 1945.

Attended the University of Colorado and then Colorado College. Studied abroad in Italy before moving to California. Eventually earned a PhD and became an architectural historian.

The Moritas were originally from Oakland, then Alameda, then moved to Mountain View, CA in 1933. The Nakatas didn't know the Marita's until they met in Heart Mountain.

This set of Justice Department papers include documents spanning from 1942-1945. The papers include a family welfare report of the Takanishis from the Red Cross, a petition for parole from internment and return to Hawaii, a letter concerning unblocking interned Japanese bank accounts, a CGRB review, and Kazuichi Takanishi's recommendation for return to Hawaii.
