Joe Ishikawa

Nisei male. Born July 29, 1919, in Los Angeles, California. Went to live in Japan as a college student, returning just prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Removed to the Santa Anita Assembly Center, California, and the Granada concentration camp, Colorado, before leaving to attend the University of Nebraska. Worked as a curator in the university's art museum and for the City of Lincoln, Nebraska. Worked for and was greatly influenced by noted socialist Norman Thomas.
