Sumiko Higashi

Sansei female. Born 1941 in Los Angeles, California. During World War II, the family was sent to the Santa Anita assembly center, California, and the Amache concentration camp, Colorado. After the war, returned to Los Angeles, where father was a gardener and mother worked in LA's fashion district in garment factories. Graduated from UCLA and worked for time as a teacher in the L.A. Unified School District. Returned to UCLA for a graduate degree and became Associate Professor of History at the State University of New York, Brockport. Author of several books, including Cecil B. DeMille: A Guide to References and Resources (1985).
