Dear Molly,

Finally got my self to sit down and write the letters (Chiyeko, Kaz Terada, Joyce, Miss Clarkson, Mr. Williams, and Mrs. Smith.) ‘Bout time I wrote to you né? Hope you’ll forgive me for not writing any sooner! Last night we saw Spring Parade at the grandstand! Couldn’t see a darn thing —the screen is really small, and they expect twenty thousand people to see it! I’m going to school right now. We don’t get any credit or grades, but it’s for our own good, so like a good girl I’m attending school every-day.

You know what? We have to walk approximately 1 ½ miles to the laundry house, ironing place, and showers! Golly, the showers don’t have any doors; you walk in, and boy you see…

…everything! “Ben and Joe’s” don’t have any doors either! You see people sitting —get me? It’s 3 blks to the “lav.” From our stable, oh woe! As for the “gohaun” it’s improving now! No cookies, pies, or cakes! (sniff.)

By the way, if you have Mary Murakami’s address, will you please let me know? Thanks! Say, why don’t you Buelah, Joyce, and Doris come to see us on some Sundays? Visiting ours are from 2: P.M. to 4: P.M. Just in case you’re coming, let us know 2 weeks before hand, ‘cause we, out here, have to obtain a permit about 2 weeks or 1 wk. before you come. I’ll get Sandie too!

It certainly is sad not being able to be with all my friends —my beau is at another camp, and I bet “Somebody Else Is Taking My Place” too! Oh woe —sniff, sniff —Golly, I bet you had lots of fun at your first “formal” huhn? Wish,…

…I were able to see you “dressed up”! It’s 12-noon, and I’m supposed to go to eat, but the mess hall line is 3 blocks long, and I’ll probably have to wait an hour, so I’ll finish this letter first! Send my regards to your brother and parents né? Better be signing off —so ‘til I hear from you —Bye, and be good pal!

Love,

Junko

P.S. My parents and Kaz says “hello” —Don’t mind the letter paper–

Be now –Write soon né?

J.Y.

Stables sure smells awful when it gets warm —Smells like horse and hay! No foolin’!
