Dear Molly,

I’m sorry I couldn’t write sooner but I was too busy. There is no schools around for us but there I one for my sister. All I do is loaf all day and wonder what I’m going to have to eat.

The day we arrived we had turnips & rice. Boy! It was terrific! The turnips were over cooked & the rice half cooked, so I came home and ate some crackers. Just once in a while they have…

…bad food. We have practically all starch for every meal. The searchlights go on in the evening and shine through the camp all night. We have to turn off our lights at ten and shut our radios at eight. They have a canteen here and they sell anything you want. Junko, Kazuko, and Mary Yokota are here.

I got real black from the sun. It’s real cold in the night. I caught a cold the first night and I can’t get rid of it. We eat at 7, 12 and 5. We have to get up early to eat or else they tell you to come back tomorrow morning. Goodly!

Love,

Sandie
