Dear Molly:

Guess you didn’t I was already in college. It’s a college for Christian workers who want become, deaconesses, social workers and such. I’m going to be a nursery school teacher. Boy! is it tough.

There are a quite a number of Japanese people here. I knew some of them back home. It’s really swell out here because everyone is so nice. I bet it would be tough for us in L.A. uh? What do you think?

Remember Tom Robinson? he’s in the army now. Can you beat that? A guy doesn’t get a break anymore does he?

I hope you’re doing alright by resting. When you get to college you’ll wish you could sleep more.

I’m really supposed to be studying now so I’d better sign off. I’m really busy...

…I can’t even darn my own sox because I haven’t got the time.

Well so long— “Mariko”

Love,

Yuri

P.S. First time I’ve been away from home. Very homesick.
