Dear Flea →

Still jumping around as usual? It’s been a long time since I last wrote to you isn’t it?

Boy! I sure could kick someone in the pants when I think of all you kids as a Senior, and here I am still a Junior. My program this term as a JUNIOR! is still the same.

Our report cards just came out. I got an all A card. It…

…really was something because only 10 kids out of the whole high school got all A cards. Man! These teachers sure grade hard. The grades here go as college, you get so many points for a certain thing, and then they add them all up at the end of the semester. Those that have a better percentage than 95% get A’s. In our Chem class I was the only one who was above 95%. The teacher said that this grading wasn’t fair so he didn’t grade according to regulation.

Man! As secretary of the Junior class I have to write minutes and I sure hate it! It reminds me of the good old times when you were writing minutes in old Estabrook’s room. Those were…

…the good old days huh? Remember that time when Yoneo F. was twirling Ruth’s shoe in the air with a pencil? And old Estabrook comes walking in! Sure was swell then. The other day in the World Lit. class I came across that old poem, “Opportunity” by Edward Rowland Sill. “This I beheld or dreamed it in a dream----”. Remember that poem? And old squeaky Hilda with “They do me wrong!”

I ran for the office of Girl’s Vice of the Student Body. We won’t know the results til Monday. Boy! It was noisy though! We gave our campaign speeches outside! The campaign managers and the candidates spoke. Some of the fellows sure acted silly. One fellow named Sombo was really…

[back]

…good! He threw his hands up in the air and shouted, “he is a great leader”, “No one can deny that he is the man for the office!” etc.--- After every phrase, he had a gang of boys in the audience to yell “Yeah!” “Yea, yea”, clap hands, etc. He sounded just like one of those politicians. Another fellow gave up and talked like a Mexican diplomat! It was really a lot of fun.

Our school is nearly finished. I think we’ll move in this month. The building sure looks cool!

Til I hear from you, I remain

Sincerely,

Sandie
