REMEMBER, THIS IS WAR

Although the final date for evacuation is perilously near, and reports from the various battle-fronts, especially in the Southwest Pacific, are unfavorable, yet some of the people do not seem thoroughly to recognize the serious situation.

We must remember that many young Americans are dying in order that we may live. There will be many more to make the supreme sacrifice. We do not disbarge the efforts being made generally. We merely stress that the situation grows worse day by day. Present sacrifice, obedience and effort must be attuned toward the final end.

When and if the day comes to return from exile, the public attitude will be based on the record. Yet, we do not hold that to be the greatest incentive. It is the imperative duty of all to contribute to the war effort. The Japanese, especially the citizens, are making a great contribution to the safety of the country by cheerfully yielding to the evacuation order. The main thing to remember is that we are at war.
