Some Japnaese [Japanese] Held For Curfew Charges

Despite the efforts of the JACL officers and Japanese leaders generally, several arrests have been made in the Northwest for violation of the travel rules and curfew regulations.

Most conspicuous case is that of Minoru Yasui, 26, a Hood River Nisei attorney, who voluntarily surrendered at Portland and will make a test of the curfew ruling in the federal courts. He is out on bail.

Two other arrests were Shineari Nagae and Henry Kinori Nagae, of Boring, near Portland, on a charge of curfew violation.

Kurumatsu Handa, 56, an alien from Kent, was reported arrested while entering Wyoming without a travel permit, and is held for trial.

In Tacoma, two youths, Toru Hamaguchi, 18, and Yeiji Yamada, 20, were arrested by the police for curfew violation.

In Seattle Tuesday night four Japanese were detained. Hideo Saiki, truck farmer of Bellevue, was arrested by the police for being out after nightfall and driving in an erratic manner.

Two Japanese clerks, Yoshio Yamamura, 21, and Shigenobu Fujino, 25, were arrested, charged with being in an apartment not their residence. Genshi F. Nakamura, 22, a cook was also held.
