YAEKO YAMASHITA WEDS CALIFORNIAN IN CEREMONY AT MANZANAR

MANZANAR, Calif., Wednesday, February 10--Yaeko Yamashita, attractive daughter of Mrs. M. Yamashita, Winslow, became the bride of Kenji Nagaishi, son of Mrs. T. Nagaishi, Los Angeles, last week.

The ceremony was performed in a church here with the Reverend S. Nagatomi, San Francisco, officiating.

The bride in white satin gown with finger tip veil carried a bouquet of white gardenias and lily of the valley, centered with orchids. Her sister, Emiko, was her maid of honor, wearing a pastel blue taffeta formal and carrying a bouquet of roses. A reception was held in the evening with approximately 45 Islanders of the some 90 attending.

The bride has two elder brothers who were not present. Pvt. Masahura Yamashita, stationed at Camp Crowder and Kazuo Yamashita, who is employed on a farm in Burley, Idaho.

MAC HAMAMURA VISITS

Mac Hamamura paid a surprise visit to his many friends here in Manzanar this week. Mr. Hamamura, who was evacuated to the Minidoka Relocation Center in Eden, Idaho, from Kirkland, lived in Winslow before moving to Kirkland, only four months prior to the evacuation. He had a strawberry farm in Kirkland.

SPARTANS MAKE DEBUT

The Bainbridge Spartans won their first game in their Class B basketball league. The prep lads defeated a contending aggregation 27-19. The team consists of: Capt. Toshio Suyematsu, Sat Sakuma, Kayo Terayama, Tokuo Chihara, John Koba, Kenny Nakata and Akiro Nakamura. Coaching the youthful quintet is Gerald Nakata, Yankees forward. The youngsters have outplayed and defeated their older brothers, the Bainbridge Yankees, who are entered in the Class A league. This aggregation has yet to win a game in two league starts. The latter outfit boast a roster including: Gerald Nakata, Ish Suyematsu, Bill Okazaki, Nob Oyama, Lefty Katayama, Morio Terayama, Shang Moritani, Tosh Chihara, Bob Koba, George Okazaki and Peter Ohtaki, with Sam Nakao as coach.
