Katayama Ill; Manzanar Women Named On P.-T.A.

MANZANAR, Calif., Wednesday, November 18--Isosaburo Katayama, Winslow, was confined to the local hospital here this week where he was under observation. Up to the present time, he had been working on the farm project. His condition is not serious.

Mrs. Masaaki Nakata, Winslow, and Mrs. Miyeko Nishi, Port Madison were appointed to be the representatives from this block to the Manzanar elementary school Parent-Teacher Association.

CHOSEN HEAD

Representative to the Manzanar Work Corps of the hospital nurses' aides is Yoshiko Matsushita, Winslow. Any employment complaint of this group will be made through her to the Fair Practice Committee. Two other Islanders, Sadako Nakata and Sueko Nishimori, both of Winslow, are also working as nurses' aides.

BITS OF GOSSIP

School chairs and tables are slowly coming in, making school a little more comfortable for the kids . . . Michiko Amatatsu is laid low with a cold . . . cold weather is setting in . . . Ritsuko Terayama is quite a busy lass . . . with the return of the beet workers, it's keeping the freight gang under secretary Yoshie Terayama quite busy . . . working on the freight crew after school are Sat Sakuma, Fred Koba, Yosh Suyematsu . . . 10 to 15 below zero up in Montana according to letters, brrrr . . . Tosh Suyematsu checks boilers until 10 or 11 each night for his after-school work . . . yep, we still have those dust storms . . . Yae Yamashita is to be one of the operators in the new beauty shop here . . . variety may be the spice of life, but Elsie Amatatsu and Kimi Suyematsu are two of the few who have stuck to their same jobs since mid-April . . .
