Pneumonia Hits 'Grandpa' Koura At Camp Manzanar

CAMP MANZANAR, Calif., Wednesday, May 13--N. Koura, 69 years old, Manzanita, was seriously ill with pneumonia at the camp hospital here this week.

Known as "Grandpa" Koura to his many friends on Bainbridge Island, Mr. Koura was stricken last week. He was reported to be in critical condition by his attending physician, Dr. James Goto, formerly of Los Angeles General Hospital.

Prospective visitors here were advised first to seek a permit from H. Kidwell, service director of the evacuation camp. At least one Caucasian Islander was known to have been denied entrance because of a lack of a permit.

Bainbridge Japanese-American girls honored their mothers Sunday on Mother's Day with an informal tea. Miss Chiyeko Oyama, Winslow, toasted the mothers, with Mrs. T. Ohtaki, Winslow, responding.
