Native Sons of the Golden West

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS

The most intolerant conditions have allegedly prevailed at the Tule Lake Relocation Camp where admittedly disloyal Japanese enemy aliens of a most dangerous character are confined under lax surveillance of the W.R.A. under the directorship of Dillon S. Meyers.

and Whereas

It has been charged that under said management acts of sabotage and destruction of food and machinery have been committed by said enemy aliens involving the stealing of weapons and of rioting thereby menacing the peace and safety of the Pacific Coast, which acts in other countries would have resulted in the summary execution of the perpetrators

and Whereas

Certain privileges invariably denied internees have been granted said enemy aliens who have made serious trouble which Dillon S. Meyers and his associated have attempted to conceal.

BE IT RESOLVED

That said Japanese internees be removed from the control of Dillon S. Meyers and the W.R.A. and that said Relocation Camp be placed in the control of the U.S. Army or of a committee of Red-Blooded Americans who will deal fearlessly and firmly though humanely and fairly with said internees.

Be if further Resolved

That all disloyal enemy aliens be deported at the conclusion of hostilities and that further immigration of Japanese to these United States be forever prohibited and that those Japanese responsible for the brutal and inhuman treatment of prisoners of war of the United Nations upon conviction by Court-Martial be promptly executed.

Be it further Resolved that a copy of these Resolutions be forwarded to the President of the U.S., the Secretary of War, each of our U.S. Senators from California and the Congressman representing this district.

I hereby certify that the above resolutions were adopted by this Parlor as a regular meeting held December 20, 1943.
