I would like to state my anguish in regard to my father's critical condition in a hospital in Port Orchard. I got word that he was in serious condition due to cancer. He knew he was going to die so he desperately wanted to see me. Because Port Orchard was close to Bremerton Navy Yard, I couldn't take a ferry to see him unless I got clearance from higher Navy officials. It took about 4 to 5 hours before I got permission to go. When I arrived at the hospital, mother told me dad has passed away a couple of hours ago. I could never forget the anguish, disappointment and distrust of my country to its "citizen." My younger brother was in the Army and overseas at the time. He was in the 442nd Infantry and he gave his life for his country. When I got word that he was killed in action, I couldn't believe that I was in Minidoka Camp with the rest of the Japanese race -- classified as dangerous enemies. Does all this make sense? NO!!. I want action to remedy all this mess NOW -- I believe we need to be compensated for the gross mistake of our government.
