When we evacuated to Puyallup Camp, my wife had a beauty shop. Since we were not given enough time to sell the business, everything in the shop was handed to the auction house. They send a check for $24.00 (?) for show case, 2 facial chairs, 3 booth outfit, machine, reception waiting room furniture. We were just at their mercy.

Some time ago I found my saving book at Sumitomo Bank. (I did not remember that I had). I went to the Sumitomo Bank and asked about it. They said U.S. government confiscated the whole thing that time, so we can not pay it back. Amount is $1,030.04. I remember the Government paid us little money but forgot the date and amount.

It is hard to estimate the total losses in salaries, household furnishings, discontinued college educations and opportunities. Too many years have passed.
