Dear Dr. Taketa:

I am submitting my request to appear at the hearings which are to take place in Seattle, Washington. My reasons for making this request is based upon first-hand information and observations of many incidents which occurred during and after the evacuation of the Japanese Americans, Aleut Native Americans and Japanese Nationals During WWII.

I wish to give testimony because I am interested in justice and it is my sincere belief that I do have important testimony to give concerning the horrendous situations that engulfed non-Japanese populace not only in Portland, Oregon but the entire Pacific Coast and their reactions against the various Japanese that lived within these borders.

Briefly such evidence would cover the bombings of the Oregon Coast, the Black Dragon Society, internment of the Japanese civilians, reactions of non-Japanese, the Japanese truck farmers, explosives, weapons and short wave radio equipment and my father's personal association with many Japanese individuals.

Since time is of the essence I am not permitted to go into depth at this writing.

It is not my desire to harm any individual regardless of the circumstances but to tell the facts as I found them during these very trying days not only for the Japanese who faced a most deplorable situation because they did not understand. As for my qualifications in my past I was a member of the Oregon State Police as well as the Multnomah County Sheriffs Office, I aided many agencies in various capacities as a linguist both City and Federal. I served in the U.S. Air Force G2 unit during WWWII, I am a first born generation of Jugoslav extraction (Nisei) I might mention that during WWII I was offered direct Commission in both the U.S. Army and the Navy but because I was a first born generation I was turned down. Later I did do intelligence work for the U.S. Air Force.

My character is impeccable I was born in Spokane, Washington, raised and educated in the Northwest my present address is 4021 N.E. 82nd Street, Seattle, Washington, 98115.

During WWI my father served with the Department of Justice and assisted them in many important incidents pertaining to the Austrian/German populace at that time, he also was the Serbian Consulate General and owned several restaurants in Portland and one was located in the International District in Portland as a result he was well acquainted with the Japanese populace.

Trusting that you will look with favor upon this request I remain,

Sincerely,

Anthony M. Mitrovich
